Goodbye 2019 and hello 2020!
As we say goodbye to 2019 and hello to 2020, I thought I would write a few words about this last decade, and what an epic transformation it has been for me. If I cast my mind back to the start of 2010, I can barely believe how much my life has changed.
I had just entered my forties, my children were still in primary school and I was blissfully unaware that I was about to go through some pretty major life changes. I have definitely had the proverbial roller coaster ride, with awesome adventures, travel, friendship and discovery to diabolically awful, sad and painful times.
I have learnt that this thing called life is not a ‘one size fits all’ proposition, and whilst it was hard to deal with some of my life challenges, I have taken every experience as an amazing lesson regardless of how shit it was. Having cancer has equipped me with some pretty bad ass lessons and I have learnt that I am one tough cookie. Now, that’s gotta be a good thing!
I have also learnt that time goes quickly and our lives are not waiting. Paying attention to my life has allowed me to expand my perspective and see what this world has to offer me. I have found what really makes me tick, and I embrace the power of positivity and the good vibes that come with it.
I love the saying that we should never look in the rear view mirror when it comes to our own lives, I for one am focusing only on the road ahead (speed bumps and all!). I am also not perfect (far from it) but I am comfortable with who I am and that is a huge step forward.
I have recently been writing poetry and I think this one pretty much sums up my last ten years 🙂
The possibilities of the new day are the breath of life
The life-force zooming through cuts like a knife
The stories we tell ourselves enter each cell
Listen or they will be a word of farewell
Finding peace and bliss is what’s it’s all about
But is it possible day in and day out?
There is certain serenity in just being
Doing nothing but listening to the supreme
Your inner mind chatters and chatters
But that doesn’t really matter
A perfect time of day is the gap between the sunrise
It really is something to gaze at that prize
They say great minds are up before the sun
If this is you, then you have already won
Salute the sun in full flight
See your life through a lens of light
As we enter a new decade I am excited about what my future holds and I hope that we can all be inspired to be the best versions of ourselves.
Happy New Year to you all.
Big Love
