Four for the Road

What’s in a Name?

We took the scenic road on the A6 through Bakewell, Taddington and Cowdale, I do love the names of some of the towns and villages that scatter through the Peak District: Sparrowpit, Leek, Pikehall and the very amusing name given to the train service in the area, the Glossop Line. We stopped in Buxton for lunch and what a fine looking little town this is. The main street had been festooned with miles of red, blue and white bunting (for some sort of festival which escapes me now) it was really very eye catching, covering the street in a kind of carnival canopy.
