Let’s face it; our world can be pretty crazy.
I have lived in it for fifty years and what a ride it has been. Whoa! The proverbial roller coaster ride comes to mind, I’m sure you have shared the same ups and downs of life.
So, what do we make of all of this? This thing called life? It’s the million dollar question isn’t it? I have a few ideas on how we can swap the fast lane for the slow road.
A few years back I sat across the dining room table with a friend and after I was doing my usual arm waving and crying in my soup about how busy my life was, he said “you need to uncomplicate your life”.
I didn’t really take much notice to be fair; I was so caught up in my own world that it didn’t register with me until a few days later. He had a point, a really big one.
My life was complicated.
At that time, I had a full time job managing a team of people, I was raising two teenage children, running a household, trying to see my family and friends as much as possible, managing finances and trying to squeeze in some sort of exercise (and the list goes on…)
This life had become the norm for me, endlessly busy and not spending anytime with myself and doing the things that I wanted to do. I did a lot of things for other people. What about little old me?
Well, little old me got cancer. And that stopped me in my tracks. A big bolt of lightning hit me and I had to make changes in my life, big ones.
So, how do we change our life? We can talk about it (a lot) sing about it (thanks Little Mix) or even make fervent plans to get ourselves on track, but it takes more than that.
It takes patience, belief, confidence, stamina, caffeine and a little bit of luck. I didn’t find it easy (I still don’t some days, LOL) but little by little I came out of the fog that had enveloped me during cancer treatment and I started by making my life uncomplicated.
So my friends, it’s now your turn.
Your life wants you to.
